Sony gives you at least 20 different choices of internet content and they were all working flawlessly when suddenly the icons to access Netflix, Amazon on Demand, Crackle and Slacker Radio literally disappeared from the lineup. And the Sony Support was horrible. I tried online chat support, phone support, email support etc. Sony promised to call me back with an escalated special team of support but never did. Then they never answered emails. I finally took my unit back thinking something must have gone haywire with the internal software. So, I exchanged it for another same brand and model new machine. Guess what? No Netflix, Amazon on Demand, Crackle, or Slacker Radio icons. Huh? All the other internet content including YouTube was represented in the channel lineup and worked flawlessly but not those premium channels. The Netflix support people said that they thought that those premium channels were being routed through Sony servers and the rest of the channels, including YouTube were being accessed directly. So, I took the second machine back and picked up a Samsung BD-P36 It immediately was able to access Netflix without all the multiple steps that Sony initially made me go through. This is really a bummer because the Sony was frankly, much more user friendly. The Sony s navigation through the various menus is much, much better and it s volcano damien rice abbey road to use overall. Also, Sony offered many more channels for internet much of it junk but some good stuff like Crackle. To sum up, this machine worked flawlessly for about 3 weeks then lost the ability to access premium channels. I suspect that it does have something to do with Sony Servers, not actually the machine. Just make sure you get a HDMI cable to make it top notch although that is true for any blu-ray player. I simply purchased a Monster Powernet 200 kit and everything streams flawlessly. I can t wait to set up my next home theater system. So fun and easy! Reason for this purchase was to watch Netflix movies by pulling stuff from the Netflix instant movie que.
