The cars just what i needed

I connected an ethernet cable to the blu-ray and now I can watch HD streaming from Netflix! Love it. I ve been using this player for about 4 weeks. It is attached to a Samsung UN40B7000 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV and directly to my 100 MBps router via ethernet cable. No Home Theater setup so won t comment on audio experience. 1 OPPO BDP-83 Blu-ray Disc Player with SACD DVD-Audio, PlayStation 3 120 GB. LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player or Sony N-460? Oppo s player was my dream system but too expensive yet. I had then considered the PS However, the N-460 seems to perform as well or slightly better and I really did not want to spend 100 on a device that offered gaming functionality I would not use. The N-460 is silent and designed to play and stream movies. If you don t need the gaming capability just go for the N-4 My second choice for the 200 budget was LG s BD390 but I was turned-off by several consistent negative reviews about defective units. Sony is not perfect either but I placed my bets on the Sony unit and I did not regret. I have seen several Blu-ray movies with the device so far. Be aware that the movie quality does affect your whole experience and no Blu-ray player can make-up for a badly filmed/transcoded/produced movie. Up 4 Disc Combo Pack with Digital Copy and DVD Blu-ray shows amazing picture quality. There is plenty of picture detail and color for you to experience the true meaning of Blu-ray. The DVD version of this movie also plays really nice on this player so I believe up-conversion bear in mind the Samsung HDTV may have a part on this process as well is done really nice. I spent several hours fine-tuning my HDTV using the Spears Munsil High-Definition Benchmark Blu-ray Disc Edition Blu-ray. I can safely state that I got it to the point where all patterns for HDTV adjustments were in compliance. However, with the test pattern for Edge-adapting Jaggies de-interlacing clip, I noticed an extreme amount of flickering a 500 Oppo BDP-83 would pass such test. I am almost certain this is the player s fault and this is the reason I am removing one full star from the rating. However, the demonstration material that comes with the benchmarks disc still plays and looks superb. The remote is basic but does its job. I was amazed that despite everyone complaining that the Sony remote is basic and has no backlighting, I was able to use my Samsung s back-lighting remote to control Sony s N-4 I do not have a Netflix account. However, I tested Crackle, Amazon on Demand, Youtube and Slacker. They all work very well and usability is OK. Of course not as usable as an Apple TV but good enough to have a decent user experience. I am using this BD player to replace a Samsung BD-P2500 which for whatever reason just doesn t want to play nice with my Pioneer receiver. My purchase of this unit was motivated by the reviews here on Amazon. Unfortunately, this has been nothing but a disappointment so far. Once I had the unit connected my first concern was getting it activated on my Netflix account. I powered it up and it informed me that there was a firmware update available. I thought that was a cool feature, my Samsung never gave me a heads up. I ran the firmware update which went quickly, and proceeded to attempt to stream from Netflix. All I could get out of the unit was an error message; connection status could not be verified. After messing around for 30 minutes I called Sony and worked my way through Tier 1 and on to Tier 2 technical support. The conversation ended 1 hour and 15 minutes later without the issue resolved. I was told it looks like our server might be down so just try again tomorrow. Now that s customer service. I attempted to connect it about 8 hours later and it worked. With my Bravia Internet account now in full effect I added my Netflix account. One thing I must give kudos to Sony on is the interface they are using for Netflix. Instead of giant sized pictures of DVD covers they are using thumbnails for the shows in your queue. Much nicer to navigate.
