Wednesday, November 10th 2010 Plextor rolled out its latest Blu-ray product, the PX-LB950SA internal Blu-ray writer drive. Armed with a SATA interface and 8 MB of cache, the PX-LB950SA can burn Blu-ray discs at 12X for BD-R, 8X for double-layer BD-R, and 2X for double-layer BD-RE. DVDs are burned at 16X for DVD-R/R, 12X for DVD-RAM, 8X for DVD-R/R double-layer and DVD-RW and 6x for DVD-RW. The drive also features LightScribe technology, with which it can burn labels onto compatible media. A copy of CyberLink PowerDVD 9 BD Suite is also bundled. Plextors latest drive is priced at Monday, October 25th 2010 Closely trailing Buffalo, Pioneer is ready with its BDR-206MBK internal SATA Blu-ray XL burner drive, slated for market release next month. If bezel design is anything to go by, Pioneers drive closely resembles Buffalos RXL-6FBS-BK. Perhaps theyre both made by the same source. Like Buffalos drive, this one burns BDXL discs at 4X, BD-RE XL discs at 2X, and conventional single and double layer BD-R discs at 6X. Pioneer will bundle CyberLinks PowerDVD 10, PowerProducer 5, Power2Go 7, InstantBurn 5, PowerBackup 2, MediShow 5 and LabelPrint 2 software with this drive. Buffalo Technology Japan announced the worlds first PC drives that can burn Blu-ray XL BDXL discs.
